أثار حارس مرمى المنتخب الأرجنتيني إيميليانو مارتينيز علامات استفهام حول مستقبله الدولي، بعدما ألمح إلى إمكانية اعتزال اللعب مع منتخب بلاده عقب خسارة نهائي كأس العالم 2026 أمام إسبانيا بهدف دون مقابل.

ورغم تألقه اللافت خلال البطولة، ونجاحه في التصدي لـ11 محاولة إسبانية في المباراة النهائية، لم يتمكن مارتينيز من منع الأرجنتين من فقدان اللقب الذي توجت به عام 2022.

وعبّر الحارس البالغ من العمر 33 عاماً عن حزنه العميق في رسالة نشرها عبر حسابه على إنستغرام، مؤكداً أن الهزيمة شكّلت خيبة أمل كبيرة بعد حلم الاحتفاظ بالكأس وكتابة فصل جديد في تاريخ المنتخب.

وقال مارتينيز إنه يحتاج إلى التفكير في مستقبله، مشيراً إلى أن الوقت قد يكون حان لإعادة تقييم مسيرته الدولية والابتعاد عن المنتخب. كما قدم اعتذاره للجماهير، مؤكداً أنه قدم كل ما لديه من أجل بلاده وزملائه.

ويُعد مارتينيز من أبرز حراس الأرجنتين عبر تاريخها الحديث، بعدما أسهم بشكل بارز في التتويج بمونديال 2022، وحصد جائزة ياشين لأفضل حارس مرمى مرتين، إضافة إلى خوضه 67 مباراة دولية.

The Argentine national team goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez raised questions about his international future after hinting at the possibility of retiring from playing for his country following the loss in the 2026 World Cup final against Spain by a score of 1-0.

Despite his remarkable performance throughout the tournament and successfully saving 11 Spanish attempts in the final match, Martínez was unable to prevent Argentina from losing the title they won in 2022.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper expressed his deep sadness in a message he posted on his Instagram account, confirming that the defeat was a significant disappointment after the dream of retaining the trophy and writing a new chapter in the team's history.

Martínez stated that he needs to think about his future, indicating that it may be time to reassess his international career and step away from the national team. He also apologized to the fans, affirming that he gave everything he had for his country and teammates.

Martínez is considered one of the most prominent goalkeepers in Argentina's modern history, having played a significant role in winning the 2022 World Cup, winning the Yashin Award for Best Goalkeeper twice, in addition to having played 67 international matches.
