The Spanish national team achieved a historic milestone by winning the 2026 World Cup title for the second time in its history, after defeating its Argentine counterpart 1-0 in the final match that extended into extra time, allowing "La Roja" to add a second star to its jersey after its first title in 2010.

The achievement of the Spanish team was not limited to the sporting aspect alone, as it was accompanied by an unprecedented financial return, after the International Football Federation (FIFA) allocated a reward of 50 million dollars to the champion of the current edition, making it the largest cash prize in World Cup history.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation is expected to receive the full amount of the prize, which is equivalent to about 44 million euros, as part of the financial prize system that FIFA has dedicated to the 2026 World Cup.

Additional Bonuses Before the Tournament

The victory bonus was not the only one received by the Spanish team, as they also benefited from the financial support provided by FIFA to all participating teams in the tournament.

FIFA granted each team qualified for the World Cup 1.5 million dollars before the competitions began, to cover the costs of training camps, travel, and organizational aspects, which is an amount separate from the prizes allocated for the tournament results.

How Much Will Each Player Receive?

According to the agreement between the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the players of the national team, the players will receive about 45% of the value of the victory bonus, which amounts to approximately 20 million euros.

When this amount is distributed among the squad of 26 players, each player's share will reach about 755,000 euros, with the bonus being uniform for all team members, regardless of the number of minutes each player participated or their role during the tournament.

This makes the bonuses allocated to the stars of the Spanish national team one of the largest individual bonuses received by players of a World Cup-winning team.

Largest Cash Prizes in World Cup History

The 2026 World Cup edition witnessed a significant surge in the value of cash prizes, as part of FIFA's approach to increase the economic returns of the tournament, coinciding with its first-time hosting with 48 teams and being jointly held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The champion's prize of 50 million dollars surpassed all the prizes received by champions of previous editions, in a move that reflects the significant growth in commercial revenues, broadcasting rights, and sponsorships achieved by the tournament.

The Second Title in "La Roja's" History

Winning the 2026 World Cup represents the second global title in the history of the Spanish national team, following its historic achievement in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, when it won the tournament for the first time after defeating the Netherlands with a goal from Andrés Iniesta in extra time.

With this achievement, the Spanish national team confirms its return to the pinnacle of world football, combining sporting glory with record financial returns in an edition described as the largest and richest in World Cup history.
